Intellectual Property and Academic Integrity Policy

Objective:

To protect the intellectual property of MTC and ensure academic integrity in all training and consultancy services offered, in accordance with Jamaica's Copyright Act (1993).

 

Scope:

This policy covers all digital content, training materials, and intellectual property created by or for MTC, as well as the ethical conduct expected from trainees.

 

Policy Statement:

MTC recognizes the importance of safeguarding intellectual property and promoting academic honesty. All digital content produced by MTC, including training materials, assessments, and presentations, are protected under copyright law. Similarly, trainees are expected to complete assignments and exams with integrity.

 

Key Provisions:

Content Ownership: All materials produced by MTC or its trainers are the intellectual property of the company and cannot be reproduced, distributed, or sold without express permission.

 

Fair Use of Materials: Trainees may use MTC’s content for personal study and training purposes but must not distribute or misuse the material.

 

Plagiarism Policy: Trainees are expected to submit original work in all assessments. Plagiarism, including copying or submitting someone else’s work without proper citation, will result in disciplinary action, including expulsion from the course.

 

Software and Licensing: MTC will ensure that all software used in online training is licensed and used legally in accordance with Jamaican intellectual property laws.

 

Violation of Academic Integrity: Any breach of academic integrity, including cheating during online assessments, will result in the immediate termination of enrollment in the course, with no refund issued.

 

Compliance:

MTC will provide plagiarism detection tools and conduct intellectual property audits to ensure that materials are used lawfully. Trainers and staff will receive training on intellectual property rights and academic integrity enforcement.
